Ramlat Fasad 579 19°07.232’N, 53°36.467’E Zufar, Oman Find: 09 Feb 2017 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Dark-brown sand-encrusted fragment, strongly magnetic. Petrography: Black iron oxides with dominant oxide-cemented dune sand. Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (XRF) Fe = 24.6±0.5, Ni = 0.94±0.28, Co = 0.12±0.03 (all wt%, N = 3). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering and dilution by adhering dune sand. Probably paired with Ramlat Fasad 580/581 Specimens: 1.2 g at NMBE.
