Ramlat Fasad 582 19°06.073’N, 53°29.839’E Zufar, Oman Find: 10 Feb 2017 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Lamellar mass of Fe-oxyhydroxides, many loose fragments, embedded in soft caliche. Strongly magnetic. Petrography: Lamellar mixture of iron oxides and -hydroxides, strongly magnetic. Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (Activation laboratories, INAA) Fe = 44.2, Ni = 6.62, Co = 0.25 (all wt%); Cr = 223, Cu = 150, Ga = 38, Ge = 400, Ir = 1.96, Pt = 30.2, Au = 0.89 (all μg/g). Bulk analysis by XRF: Fe = 49.4±6.5, Ni = 3.7±1.0, Co = 0.18±0.14 (all wt%, N = 3). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering.
