Ramlat Fasad 589 18°54.605’N, 53°25.332’E Zufar, Oman Find: 08 Feb 2018 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Black angular to rounded oxide fragments. Strongly magnetic. Petrography: Lamellar mixture of iron oxides and -hydroxides. Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (Activation laboratories, INAA) Fe = 51.6, Ni = 4.04, Co = 0.30 (all wt%); Cr = 33, Cu = 34, Ga = 14, Ge = 10, Ir = 0.29, Pt = 14.5, Au = 0.29 (all μg/g). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering. Probably paired with Ramlat Fasad 587/588 found at a distance of 25 to 55 m Specimens: All at NMBE. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
