Northwest Africa 13833 (NWA 13833) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Sep Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite, polymict) Physical characteristics: Single greenish stone, lacking fusion crust Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Brecciated igneous rock with mm-sized lithic and mineral clasts in a clastic matrix. Lithic clasts have intersertal texture. Melt rock clasts are also present. Main minerals are pyroxene (some exsolved) and plagioclase. Other minerals: chromite (to 50 µm), troilite, ilmenite, metal, silica polymorph. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene Fs26.6±2.7Wo2.2±0.2, FeO/MnO = 33.2±3.5 (n=10). Intersertal eucritic clasts Fs586Wo5.8, FeO/MnO = 31.3 (n=2). Plagioclase An92.9±1.2Ab6.9±1.2Or0.3±0.1 (n=4). Chromite Cr# = 0.76 (n=1). Classification: Achondrite (diogenite, polymict). This contain contains less than 10 vol% of eucrite clasts. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
