Northwest Africa 13976 (NWA 13976)

Centre-South, Morocco

Find: 2010

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L~4)

History: Discovered by Ait Kabboura Imad close to Merdane (~31°05’N, ~3°57’W) in 2010.

Physical characteristics: One brown fragment of 36.25 g

Petrography: well-defined chondrules of 0.2-2 mm (av. 0.8 mm) set in a dark brown matrix with sulfide and metal specks

Geochemistry: Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.89

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L~4, W2)

Specimens: 7.9 g on deposit at Kiel, Ait Kabboura Imad (Liege/B) holds the main mass, and 9 g with Bart.
