Writeup from MB 110:

Hassi Rtiem 001        27°53’56.7’’N, 9°23’14.9’’W

South, Morocco

Purchased: 2021 Jan

Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, monomict)

History: Purchased from a moroccan mineral dealer. Found in Morocco in October 2019.

Petrography: (K. Metzler, IfP) Achondritic breccia, consisting of mm-sized eucritic lithic clasts with ophitic to subophitic textures and monomineralic fragments (pyroxene, plagioclase) set in a fine-grained clastic matrix of related debris. Low-Ca pyroxene shows augite exsolution lamellae. Accessories are a silica polymorph, ilmenite, chromite, troilite, and some Ni-free metal.

Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene (host): Fs52.9±0.9 Wo2.5±0.3 (Fs51.2-54.0 Wo2.0-2.8); mean Fe/Mn (at.): 33; n=15. Ca-rich pyroxene (exsolution lamellae) Fs23.7±1.0 Wo42.1±0.8 (Fs22.2-25.2 Wo41.0-43.2); mean Fe/Mn (at.): 33; n=10. Plagioclase An85.2±4.8 Or0.0±1.7 (An78.3-91.1 Or0.0-1.7); n=13.
