Northwest Africa 14015 (NWA 14015) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4/5) History: Purchased by Grant Harkness in 2019 from a dealer in Zagora, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Somewhat dispersed but well-formed, relatively small chondrules (containing devitrified glass) are set in a recrystallized matrix containing altered kamacite, sodic plagioclase, chromite, troilite and chlorapatite. The specimen is crosscut by thin goethite veinlets. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.8±1.3, range Fa17.6-20.5, Cr2O3 < 0.02 wt.%, N = 8), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.1±0.2Wo1.3±0.1, range Fs16.0-16.4Wo1.2-1.3, N = 5). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4/5). Specimens: 26 g including one polished thin section is at PSF; remainder in the Harkness Collection. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
