Northwest Africa 13995 (NWA 13995) Algeria Purchased: 2021 Feb Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite) History: The holder (Xu Dengqin) purchased the sample from Aziz Zad, who found the meteorite in Algeria. The meteorite was purchased in February 2021 Petrography: The meteorite is a basaltic rock, composed of pigeonite(~30 vol.%, size from 20 to 2000 µm), augite(~15 vol.%, size from 20 to 2000 µm), and plagioclase (~50 vol.%, size from 20 to 2500 µm). with minor amounts of silica and troilite. It has ophitic to subophitic texture. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene: Fs61.2±0.3Wo1.8±0.1, Fe/Mn=36.0±0.6, n=6; high-Ca pyroxene: Fs46.2±4.4Wo21.9±5.1, Fe/Mn=33.9±0.9, n=4; (EPMA). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
