Sentinel Plain (a) 32°52’17.88"N, 113°3’42.12"W Arizona, United States Find: 26 Mar 2018 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5) History: A fresh, 97 g fusion-crusted meteorite was found by Mr. Robert Szczuczko on 16 March 2018, while he was searching for meteorites in southwestern Arizona. Physical characteristics: Single 97 g fusion-crusted blocky stone with shallow regmaglypts. A matte to shiny black fusion crust covers the stone. The interior shows tightly packed well-defined chondrules separated by a light-colored matrix and abundant small metal grains. Interior is light gray and shows little weathering. Petrography: (L. Garvie, ASU, R. Szczuczko) Polished slice and probe mount show an abundance of well-formed chondrules and chondrule fragments in a recrystallized matrix. Section contains a 3.5 × 2.5 achondritic clast. Chondrules (PO, POP, PP, RP, CC, BO, GO) to 2 mm, though most <0.5 mm. Some chondrules armored by troilite. Interchondrule feldspar typically <15 μm across. Metal grains rarely larger than 0.3 mm and troilite <0.2 mm. Most metal grains exhibit a consertal outline with the surrounding silicates. Under crossed polars, the troilite is single crystal and lacks shock features. Native Cu is rare, with grains to 10 μm. Chromite is uncommon and typically <50 μm across.
