Northwest Africa 14065 (NWA 14065) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Feb Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, monomict) History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer in Morocco. Physical characteristics: Many grayish fragments, some of which are partly covered by fusion crust. Petrography: Coarse-grained brecciated basalt composed of up to 1.5 mm sized exsolved pyroxene and angular plagioclase grains. Minor phases are silica, ilmenite, Ti-bearing chromite, troilite, and metallic iron. Contains shock melt pockets. Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene: Fs59.5±0.4Wo2.0±0.3 (Fs58.9-60.2Wo1.6-2.6, FeO/MnO=26-29, n=12); Ca-pyroxene: Fs25.2±0.4Wo44.4±0.3 (Fs24.5-25.8Wo43.9-45.0, FeO/MnO=25-28, n=13); calcic plagioclase: An89.5±2.0 (An86.6-91.9, n=15) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
