Northwest Africa 14045 (NWA 14045) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Dec Classification: Enstatite chondrite (EL6) History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in December 2019 from a dealer in Guelmim, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Rare RP chondrules occur within a mostly recrystallized assemblage of orthopyroxene plus kamacite together with accessory silica polymorph, graphite, Cr-troilite, oldhamite, and ferroan alabandite. Geochemistry: Enstatite (Fs0.2±0.2Wo1.3±0.0, range Fs0.1-0.4Wo1.3, N = 4), plagioclase (Ab81.1±0.1An13.5±0.1Or5.5±0.0, range Ab81.0-81.2An13.6-13.4Or5.5, N = 2), kamacite (Ni = 7.3-7.4 wt.%, Si = 0.8±0.0 wt.%, N = 3). Classification: Enstatite chondrite (EL6). Specimens: 29.2 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. Z. Wang. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
