(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2021 Jan

Classification: Lunar meteorite (feldspathic breccia)

History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in January 2021 from a dealer in Ouargla, Algeria.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Breccia composed of indistinct feldspathic clasts within a similarly extremely fine grained matrix (mean grainsize of mafic silicates ~ 5 µm). All components consist of an assemblage of anorthite accompanied by subordinate olivine and pigeonite with accessory low-Ti chromite, pleonaste, pentlandite and rare rutile.

Geochemistry: Anorthite (An96.1-97.6Or0.1-0.0, N = 3), olivine (Fa21.6-31.7, FeO/MnO = 93-104, N = 5), pigeonite (Fs18.8-18.9Wo8.4-9.8, FeO/MnO = 51-53, N = 2).

Classification: Lunar (feldspathic breccia).
