Northwest Africa 14031 (NWA 14031) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Mar Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H/L4) History: The meteorite was purchased from a group of meteorites hunters in Nouadhibou, Mauritania, in March, 2021. Physical characteristics: Dark-brownish rock without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows a chondritic texture with well-formed mostly rounded chondrules with an apparent mean diameter of 394±206 µm (N=41) set in a reddish matrix with some metal, sulfides, and their respective alteration products. Classification: Type 4 ordinary chondrite with Fa and Fs values as well as chondrule mean diameter intermediate between H and L. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
