Northwest Africa 14102 (NWA 14102) Morocco Purchased: 2020 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, brecciated) Physical characteristics: Dark stone. Cut face reveals a dark interior with light clasts up to cm size. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Brecciated igneous rock with mineral and subophitic lithic clasts set in a comminuted matrix. Main minerals are pyroxene (some exsolved) and plagioclase with typical grainsize 300 µm. Other minerals: olivine, chromite, ilmenite, silica polymorph, troilite, rare metal. A mm-sized CM-like clast is present in the studied polished section. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa81.2±1.7, FeO/MnO 44.4±3.5 (n=3). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs60.7±5.2Wo4.3±1.4 (n=10). Ca-pyroxene Fs48.3Wo22.2 (n=2), Fs31.1±2.4Wo42.5±0.6 (n=4). Plagioclase An89.0±1.2Ab10.4±1.1Or0.6±0.1 (n=4). Classification: Achondrite (eucrite). Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
