Northwest Africa 14117 (NWA 14117) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Dec Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in December 2019 from a dealer in Greeley, Colorado, who had obtained the material from a Moroccan source. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Breccia composed of recrystallized clasts containing rare chondrule remnants and accessory chromite, altered metal, troilite, chlorapatite and merrillite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa19.6±0.1, range Fa19.4-19.8, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs17.3±0.4Wo1.4±0.1, range Fs16.7-17.9Wo1.4-1.6, N = 6). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6 breccia). Specimens: 27.2 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
