Northwest Africa 14118 (NWA 14118) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Dec Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in December 2019 from a dealer in Greeley, Colorado, who had obtained the material from a Moroccan source. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed, relatively small equilibrated chondrules are present in a relatively coarse grained, recrystallized matrix containing altered metal, chromite, troilite and chlorapatite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa19.0±0.1, range Fa18.8-19.2, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.6±0.1Wo1.1±0.2, range Fs16.4-16.7Wo0.6-1.3, N = 5). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4). Specimens: 22.8 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
