Northwest Africa 14122 (NWA 14122)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2019 Dec

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4)

History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in December 2019 from a Moroccan dealer.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed, relatively small equilibrated chondrules are present in a relatively coarse grained, recrystallized matrix containing altered metal, chromite, troilite and chlorapatite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.7±0.2, range Fa18.5-18.9, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.5±0.1Wo1.5±0.6, range Fs16.4-16.6Wo1.2-2.4, N = 4).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4).

Specimens: 38.8 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb.
