Catalina 393 25°14’S, 69°43’W Antofagasta, Chile Find: 2010 Apr 14 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3) Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Matrix-poor chondrite with well-delineated chondrules. Olivine is zoned. Opaque minerals are metal and troilite. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa12.0±7.4, range Fa0.6-19.8, Fa PMD 55% (n=8). Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.04 wt% (n=6). Low-Ca pyroxene Fa11.7±8.1Wo1.3±0.9 (n=4), range Fs3.9-22.7. Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3). L group from magnetic susceptibility interpreted in the light of the weathering grade. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Eric Christensen. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
