El Atchane 019 29°43’14.1"N, 4°25’31.0"E Ouargla, Algeria Find: 2020 Nov Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2) Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with ~200 µm chondrules set in abundant (~70 vol%) fine-grained iron-rich matrix. Oopaque minerals are sulfides, magnetite, and rare metal enclosed in silicates. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa9.4±15.8, range Fa0.7-52.5 (n=12). Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine is 0.38±0.12 (n=7). Defocused matrix analyses give an analytical total of 78.1 wt% and FeO = 31.9 wt%. Classification: Carbonaceous chondrites (CM2). The low analytical total indicates the presence of hydrous phases in the matrix. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
