Northwest Africa 14126 (NWA 14126) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 May Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3) History: The meteorite was purchased from a group of meteorites hunters in Nouadhibou, Mauritania, in May, 2021. Physical characteristics: Many dark brownish fragments some of which partly covered with fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows a dark brownish to reddish interior and is a breccia composed of well defined mostly rounded chondrules (apparent mean diameter about 350 µm) and mineral fragments set in abundant matrix dominated by Fe-rich olivine. Some black melt fragments are present. Minor phases are Ca-pyroxene and sodic plagioclase, opaques are sulfides and Ti-bearing chromite; no metal has been detected. Geochemistry: olivine: Fa28.0±15.9 (Fa0.8-42.7, n=19); low-Ca pyroxene: Fs10.2±8.2Wo1.2±1.0 (Fs1.2-26.8Wo0.3-3.1, n=10); Ca-pyroxene: Fs10.6±0.9Wo46.5±0.8 (Fs9.4-11.7Wo45.3-47.3, n=5) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
