Find: 2016 Feb 29

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CVred3)

History: Found by Youssef Ben Ahmad on February 29, 2016. Bought by Jean Redelsperger from Lhcen Ait Ha in 2021.

Physical characteristics: Several stones with or without fusion crust. Large chondrules are visible in cut surface.

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with ~800 µm chondrules and CAIs set in abundant fine-grained, iron-rich matrix. Opaque minerals are metal, magnetite and troilite.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa6.5±3.5, range Fa0.6-10.5 (n=7). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs1.5±0.5Wo1.3±0.5, range Fs1.0-2.3 (n=5). Sulfide Ni content 1.0±0.4 (n=3).

Classification: Carbonceous chondrite (CVred3). CVred group based on the Ni content of sulfides Gattacceca et al., 2020.

Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Jean Redelsperger.
