Northeast Africa 033 (NEA 033)

Libya

Purchased: 2020 Dec

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5)

History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in December 2020 from a Libyan dealer.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse chondrules conatining devitrified glass are set in a recrystallized matirx containing troilite, stained kamacite, augite, sodic plagioclase, chromite, chlorapatite and merrillite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa24.3±0.2, range Fa24.1-24.6, N = 8), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs20.9±1.0Wo2.2±1.1, range Fs19.7-22.4Wo1.3-4.12, N = 5), augite (Fs8.6Wo44.5).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5).

Specimens: 36.9 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal.
