Northwest Africa 14181 (NWA 14181)

Purchased: 2021 Mar

Classification: Pallasite

History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in March 2021 from a dealer in Tindouf, Algeria.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Coarse grained aggregate of olivine and metal (kamacite plus taenite) in subequal proportions together with accessory troilite. Minor secondary goethite is present around kamacite grains and as cross-cutting veinlets.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa12.4-12.8, N = 4).

Classification: Pallasite.

Specimens: 46 g in the form of a polished endcut at UWB; remainder with WangZ.
