Northwest Africa 14266 (NWA 14266)

Mali

Purchased: 2019 Aug

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4/5)

History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in August 2019 from a Malian dealer.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Some well-formed chondrules occur within a recrystallized matrix containing sodic plagioclase, altered kamacite, troilite, pentlandite and merrillite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.1±0.1, range Fa25.0-25.2, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.1±0.2Wo0.7±0.1, range Fs20.8-21.2Wo1.3-1.9, N = 5), augite (Fs7.6±0.2Wo45.6±0.7, range Fs7.4-7.8Wo45.0-46.3, N = 3).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4/5).

Specimens: 36.7 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal.
