Northwest Africa 14329 (NWA 14329)

Purchased: June, 2021

Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a group of meteorite hunters in Nouadhibou, Mauritania in June, 2021.

Physical characteristics: Three fragments almost completly covered with fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite is an unbrecciated basalt showing intersertal texture with domains of recrystallized mesostasis. Main minerals are exsolved proxene and often lath-shaped calcic plagioclases. Minor phases are silica, chromite, ilmenite, Fes, and metallic iron.

Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene: Fs57.8±0.3Wo6.3±0.4 (Fs57.4-58.7Wo5.3-6.7, n=12, FeO/MnO=29-32); Ca-pyroxene: Fs29.8±0.2Wo40.9±0.3 (Fs29.3-30.0Wo40.5-41.4, n=11, FeO/MnO=31-36); calcic plagioclase: An89.1±0.4 (An88.3-90.1, n=12)
