Calama 175 22°29.036’S, 68°50.392’W Antofagasta, Chile Find: 18 Oct 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4) History: The meteorite was found on autumn 2019 by Atali Agakhanov during a meteorite searching expedition organized by Timur Kryachko. Physical characteristics: Total mass is about 184 g. The interior of the meteorite is dark brown whereas the surface is brown to light brown with visible chondrules and metal. Petrography: (Kseniya A. Konovalova, FMMR). Petrographic observation of a polished section shows that main part of the meteorite contains well-formed chondrules in a coarse-grained matrix. The matrix contains no plagioclase. Chondrules sizes vary from 100 µm to 1 mm (with predominant size 200-500 µm). Metal blebs and troilite are surrounding by rare hydroxides veins (weathering grade is W1). Olivine has no undulatory extinction, indicating a shock stage of S1. Geochemistry: Mineral composition and Geochemistry: EDS analyses (Atali Agakhanov, Ksenia A. Konovalova, FMMR). Olivine 18.99±0.54 (N=27), Low-Ca pyroxene Fs17.3±0.6Wo0.78±0.19 (N=16), plagioclase Ab88.0An7.9Or3.7 (N=4). Phosphate is Cl-apatite. Composition of kamacite (in wt. %, n = 9): Fe - 90.69, Ni - 6.74, Co - 0.79. Classification: (Kseniya A. Konovalova, FMMR). Ordinary chondrite. H4, S1, W1. Specimens: Atali Agakhanov holds main mass. 21.17 g and thin section, FMMR. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
