Northwest Africa 14363 (NWA 14363)

Morocco

Purchased: 2021 Mar

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6)

History: Purchased by Said Baya in March 2021 from a dealer in Smara, Morocco.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Highly recrystallized assemblage with rare remnant chondrules and accessory altered kamacite, troilite and sodic plagioclase.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa24.3±0.3, range Fa24.1-24.6, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs20.4±0.3Wo3.7±0.6, range Fs20.1-20.7Wo1.2-1.5, N = 4), augite (Fs13.2±0.4Wo33.7±3.1, range Fs12.9-13.4Wo35.9-31.5, N = 2).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6).

Specimens: 55.9 g including a polished mount at UWB; remainder with Mr. S. Baya.
