Northwest Africa 14381 (NWA 14381) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2020 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, unbrecciated) History: Puchased by Nicholas Gessler in 2020 from a Moroccan dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Unbrecciated specimen with subophitic texture. Composed of exsolved pigeonite and calcic plagioclase with accessory silica polymorph, ilmenite, chromite, troilite, zircon and Ni-free metal. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene (Fs55.6-58.0Wo6.1-8.5, FeO/MnO = 30-31, N = 7), augite (Fs29.3-32.9Wo36.7-40.8, FeO/MnO = 28-31, N = 7), plagioclase (An87.7-88.9Or0.5, N = 3). Classification: Eucrite (unbrecciated). Specimens: 32.7 g plus one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. N. Gessler. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
