Northwest Africa 14399 (NWA 14399) Morocco Purchased: Aug 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL6) History: Purchased by Sean Tutorow from a dealer in August 2019 in Morocco. Physical characteristics: The type specimen has a rugged surface and lacks fusion crust. The interior has a light brown color. Cracks and vugs are formed by alteration and no metal is observed. Petrography: (A. Bouvier, UBayr) Highly equilibrated, re-crystallized texture of chondrules and matrix. Metal is oxidized and rare FeS is found. Geochemistry: (R. Matthäus, UBayr) Olivine 30.7±0.8 (n=14), low-Ca pyroxene Fs24.9±0.4Wo2.6±0.3 (n=8), high-Ca pyroxene Fs11.0±0.9Wo42.4±0.7 (n=2), and feldspar An11.5±0.7Ab82.8±1.3Or5.7±1.3 (n=11) Classification: LL6 Specimens: 32.6 g including a polished mount at UBayr.
