Northwest Africa 14401 (NWA 14401) Morocco Purchased: Aug 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6) History: Purchased by Sean Tutorow from a dealer in August 2019 in Morocco. Physical characteristics: The type specimen has a dark grey to brown interior and no fusion crust. Petrography: (A. Bouvier, UBayr) Highly equilibrated matrix and chondrules. Pervasive weathering effects with oxide veins and dissolution pits which may be remnants of former metal grains, but metal and sulfides are still present. Geochemistry: (R. Matthäus, UBayr) Olivine 17.9±0.5 (n=13), low-Ca pyroxene Fs16.0±0.2Wo1.4±0.2 (n=14), feldspar An11.3±0.4Or5.2±0.9 (n=7) Classification: H6 Specimens: 30.8 g including a thin section and polished mount at UBayr. S. Tutorow holds the main mass. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
