Northwest Africa 14210 (NWA 14210) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2020 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK5) History: Purchased by Aziz Zad in 2020 from a meteorite dealer in Algeria. Physical characteristics: Single stone with slightly weathered fusion crust. Petrography: (D. Sheikh, Cascadia) Specimen is composed of few discernable chondrules (containing ferroan Ni-bearing olivine) set in a fine-grained matrix containing secondary recrystallized feldspar (Av. 15±5 ?m), pentlandite and Cr-bearing magnetite (~4.0 wt. % Cr2O3). Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa29.6±0.4, range Fa29.0-31.1, NiO= 0.62±0.04 wt. %, n=26), Low-Ca Pyroxene (Fs25.8±0.5Wo0.6±0.1, range Fs25.4-26.2Wo0.6-0.7, n=2), Plagioclase (An81.1±4.8, range An72.9-84.4, n=5). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK5). Specimens: 25.3 g and a thin section at Cascadia; main mass with Aziz Zad. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
