Cactus Forest (a) 32°56’24.51"N, 111°23’07.55"W Arizona, United States Find: 2017 April 1 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4) History: Larry Atkins found a 63 g meteorite ~6 km west of Cactus Forest on 1 April 2017. Physical characteristics: Weathered and orange stained meteorite. Cut surface shows abundand iron-oxide veins. All metal, and most sulfide is weathered. Petrography: (L. Garvie, ASU) BSE images of the probe mount shows an abundance of chondrules (PO, POP, BO, CC), with a mean near 500 μm. Interchondrule feldspar <5 μm across. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa23.9±1.7, range Fa22.6-27.4, NiO to 0.35 wt% and Cr2O3 to 0.9 wt%, Fe/Mn= 47.5±5.1, n=10. low Ca pyroxene Fs15.3±6.5Wo1.1±1.2, range Fs7.3-32.6Wo0.2-3.6, n=12. high Ca pyroxene Fs7.3Wo44.3 and Fs10.7Wo39.8.
