Northwest Africa 14456 (NWA 14456)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2021 Apr

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6)

History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in April 2021 from a Moroccan dealer.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Very fresh, highly recrystallized specimen containing rare remnant chondrules. Accessory phases are sodic plagioclase, kamacite, troilite, chromite, merrillite and chlorapatite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa19.6±0.2, range Fa19.4-19.9, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs17.2±0.2Wo1.4±0.1, range Fs16.9-17.4Wo1.2-1.6, N = 7).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6).

Specimens: 93.7 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal.
