Northwest Africa 14444 (NWA 14444) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2018 Classification: Pallasite History: Purchased by Geologist Juan Avilés Poblador in 2018 from a meteorite dealer in Algeria. Physical characteristics: Many small stones with minor fusion crust. Petrography: (D. Sheikh, Cascadia) This sample contains subequal amounts of fractured, angular to sub-rounded grains of olivine (up to 7.5 mm), and weathered Fe-Ni metal. Accessory phases include Fe-oxides and troilite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa11.7±0.4, range Fa11.4-12.1, n=11). Classification: Pallasite. Likely paired with NWA 14208. Specimens: 33.3 g at Cascadia; main mass with Juan Avilés Poblador. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
