Writeup from MB 110:

Northwest Africa 14328 (NWA 14328)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2021

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L, melt rock)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a dealer in Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Light brownish rock without fusion crust.

Petrography: The igneous rock displays a microporphyritic texture of predominantly 50-300 µm sized olivine and pyroxene grains both mostly showing compositional zoning together with interstitial Si,Al-rich mesostasis. Some compositionally homogeneous olivine and pyroxene crystals are present. Opaque phases are chromite, FeNi metal, and sulfides typically occurring as blebs in the mesostasis. No relict chondrules detected.

Geochemistry: zoned olivine: Fa19.7±3.8 (Fa13.4-24.5, n=12); homogeneous olivine: Fa23.0±0.2, n=3; zoned pyroxene: Fs21.3±1.4Wo13.0±11.1 (Fs17.9-24.9Wo2.9-31.8, n=20); homogeneous pyroxene: Fs21.8±0.1Wo3.6±0.1, n=2
