Northwest Africa 14367 (NWA 14367) Morocco Purchased: 2019 Sep Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite) History: Purchased by Jesper Grønne in September 2019 from a Moroccan dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Monomict breccia consisting of closely-packed grains of orthopyroxene (up to 6 mm, exhibiting undulose extinction) within a sparse matrix composed of smaller orthopyroxene grains plus accessory olivine, augite, Ti-free chromite and stained troilite. Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene (Fs23.6-23.8Wo1.6-1.8, FeO/MnO = 24-26, N = 5), augite (Fs6.6-10.6Wo44.6-47.5, FeO/MnO = 19-27, N = 4), olivine (Fa26.1-27.4, FeO/MnO = 44-45, N = 3). Classification: Diogenite (monomict breccia). Specimens: 22.6 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. J. Grønne. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
