Northwest Africa 14388 (NWA 14388) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite) History: Puchased by Nicholas Gessler in 2021 from a Moroccan dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Breccia composed of angular grains of orthopyroxene up to 4 mm exhibiting undulose extinction, set in a fine grained matrix composed of orthopyroxene, silica polymorph, chromite and Ni-poor metal. Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene (Fs24.3-26.1Wo1.2-5.5, FeO/MnO = 27-28, N = 8). Classification: Diogenite (breccia). Specimens: 23.7 g plus one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. N.
