Classification: Martian meteorite (shergottite)

History: Purchased by Zhishu Wang in 2021 from a meteorite dealer

Physical characteristics: The stone has a round shape without black fusion crust. Some terrestrial silica grains are visible stucked along the surficial cracks of meteorite.

Petrography: (J. Ji, S. Hu and Y. Lin, IGGCAS) This meteorite display ophitic textures, mainly composed of pyroxene and maskelynite, with minor merrillite, apatite, ilmenite, troilite and olivine. Most pyroxene grains are zoned in chemical compositions. Shock induced melt rock pockets are observed in the section.

Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: (J. Ji, S. Hu and Y. Lin, IGGCAS) Pigeonite: Fs31.5-67.3Wo16.3-21.4 (n=6), augite: Fs24.4-61.2Wo22.8-32.7(n=11), pyroxene Fe/Mn=35.4±4.1 (mole ratio, n=17), maskelynite: An49.6-57.1Ab41.1-49.1 (n=6).
