Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with small chondrules (average apparent diameter 290±160 µm, n=25) set in a abundant fine-grained iron-rich matrix (72 vol% by point counting, n=265). Opaque minerals are sulfides, magnetite and rare metal. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa12.3±18.9, range Fa1.4-44.9 (n=4). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs1.5Wo2.8 (n=2). Defocused eletron microprobe analyses of the matrix give analytical totals of 79.5 wt% and FeO 33.7 wt%. Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2). The low analytical totals in the matrix indicate the presence of hydrous phases. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
