Northwest Africa 14189 (NWA 14189)

Niger

Purchased: 2021 Jan

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4)

History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in January 2021 from an Algerian dealer.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed chondrules containing devitrified glass are set in a matrix containing troilite, stained kamacite, pigeonite, subcalcic augite, chromite and chlorapatite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa28.2±0.4, range Fa27.6-28.7, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.5±0.6Wo1.9±1.9, range Fs20.6-21.8Wo0.5-4.8, N = 4), pigeonite (Fs17,2Wo8.1), subcalcic augite (Fs11.5Wo29.2).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4).

Specimens: 42.5 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal.
