Northwest Africa 14374 (NWA 14374)

Purchased: 2019 Mar

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK4)

History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in March 2019 from a dealer in Agadir, Morocco.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Separated well-formed, equilibrated Cr-magnetite-bearing chondrules are set in a fine grained matrix containing slightly stained Cr-magnetite and pentlandite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa29.5±0.1, range Fa29.3-29.6, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs26.6±0.8Wo1.3±1.5, range Fs25.5-27.6Wo3.9-0.6, N = 5), augite Fs9.4±1.3Wo46.1±0.8, range Fs8.4-10.3Wo46.6-45.5, N = 2), magnetite (Cr2O3 3.4-3.6 wt.%, N = 2).

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK4/5).

Specimens: 22 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with WangZ.
