Northwest Africa 14375 (NWA 14375)

Purchased: 2021 Mar

Classification: Mesosiderite

History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in March 2021 from a dealer in Tindouf, Algeria.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Aggregate of low-Ca pyroxene, anorthite and altered kamacite (about 40 vol%) together with accessory augite, silica polymorph, pentlandite, merrillite, V-bearing chromite and minor rutile.

Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene (Fs29.8-34.5Wo2.9-4.5, FeO/MnO = 21-26, N = 5), augite (Fs14.5-16.4Wo41.0-42.3, FeO/MnO = 17-18, N = 3), plagioclase (An90.2-92.6Or0.1-0.2, N = 3).

Classification: Mesosiderite.

Specimens: 29 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with WangZ.
