Northwest Africa 14530 (NWA 14530) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: May 2021 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite) Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Gabbroic igneous rock. Main minerals are pyroxene and plagioclase with typical grain size ~1 mm. Some pyroxene grains are exsolved. Other minerals include troilite, chromite, ilmenite, rare metal. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene Fs62.0±0.7Wo2.5±0.9n FeO/MnO = 32.0±0.7 (n=5). Augite exsolutions Fs26.7Wo44.8, FeO/MnO = 35.6 (n=2). Plagioclase An86.4Ab12.9Or0.7 (n=2). Classification: Achondrite (eucrite) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
