Northwest Africa 14424 (NWA 14424) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Feb Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in February 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse chondrules occur in a recrystallized assemblage containing stained kamacite, troilite, chromite, merrillite, chlorapatite and sodic plagioclase. Glass is absent. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.3±0.7, range Fa24.7-26.4, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.3±0.9Wo1.4±0.2, range Fs20.3-23.0Wo1.2-1.7, N = 7). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 29.51 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
