Ramlat as Sahmah 534 (RaS 534)        20.083° N, 55.752° E

Al Wusta, Oman

Find: 2013

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4)

History: Found in Oman in 2013 and purchased in December 2019 by Jason Whitcomb from a dealer in Edinburgh, UK.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed chondrules are set in a recrystallized matrix containing extensively altered metal, chromite, troilite, chlorapatite and merrillite. Some chondrules contain devitrified glass but most contain sodic plagioclase. Plagioclase is absent from the matrix.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.1±0.7, range Fa24.2-25.7, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.4±1.4Wo1.5±0.1, range Fs20.5-24.1Wo1.4-1.8, N = 6).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4).

Specimens: 31.0 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb.
