Grove Mountains 091232 (GRV 091232) 72°59’1.2"S, 75°14’51.6"E Antarctica Find: 2010 Jan 31 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3) Petrography: Chondrules are very sharply defined, suggesting a type-3 classification. Chondrule types include porphyritic and cryptocrystalline textures. Olivine grains exhibit sharp optical extinction, indicative of shock stage S2. SEM observations show that the metal/sulfide are up to 30 vol%, indicate this meteorite belongs to H group. Specimens: The main mass and one thin section are on deposit at PRIC. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
