Northwest Africa 14540 (NWA 14540) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Mar Classification: Lunar meteorite (feldspathic breccia) Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Mineral clasts (Ca-pyroxene, olivine, plagioclase) to 200 µm set in a quenched melt rock matrix composed of µm-sized pyroxene in a feldspathic mesostasis. Metal, troilite, ilmenite are present. One mm-sized subophitic clast with 50 µm grain size is present. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa39.5±1.0, FeO/MnO = 94.0 (n=4). Ca-pyroxene Fs18.1±7.7Wo34.3±10.8, range Fs10.1-32.8, range Wo13.0-43.3, FeO/MnO = 54.0±12.7 (n=8). Plagioclase An95.8Ab3.9Or0.3 (n=6). Chromite Cr# = 0.75. Classification: Lunar meteorite (Feldspathic breccia) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
