Northwest Africa 14772 (NWA 14772) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Jun Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in June 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Highly recrystallized with rare chondrule remnants. Accessory phases include altered kamacite, troilite, chromite, merrillite, chlorapatite and plagioclase. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa24.8±0.3, range Fa24.6-25.4, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.4±1.0Wo1.5±0.4, range Fs20.7-23.3Wo1.0-1.9, N = 6). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6). Specimens: 29.55 g including one polished thick section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
