Northwest Africa 14776 (NWA 14776) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Jun Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in June 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse chondrules occur in a matrix containing altered kamacite, taenite, troilite, chromite, merrillite and plagioclase. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa24.7±0.2, range Fa24.5-24.9, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs20.8±0.2Wo1.5±0.3, range Fs20.4-21.1Wo1.2-1.9, N = 5), subcalcic augite (Fs16.4Wo22.4), augite (Fs8.1Wo44.3). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 20.9 g including one polished thick section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
