Northwest Africa 14780 (NWA 14780) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Jun Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in June 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse chondrules (some containing devitrified glass) occur in a matrix containing altered kamacite, troilite, chromite, chlorapatite and plagioclase. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa24.5±0.3, range Fa24.1-24.9, N = 9), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs20.9±0.9Wo1.8±0.3, range Fs20.1-22.9Wo1.4-2.4, N = 7). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 24.6 g including one polished thick section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
